On October 21, 2013, the American Biogas Council presented BioCycle Editor Nora Goldstein with its Visionary Award. Presented at the BioCycle REFOR13 Conference in Columbus, Ohio, this award acknowledges Nora for her role in the formation of the American Biogas Council’s and her continued counsel from its infancy to present day. In his introduction, Wayne Davis, Chair of ABC, noted: “Our next recipient is the second generation leadership of what is truly the First Family of Organics Management in the U.S.”
Following the vision of Jerome Goldstein (Nora’s father and founder of BioCycle), who understood the synergy between compost and biogas as best-use solutions for organic waste, Nora Goldstein organized an evening session at BioCycle’s Ninth Annual Conference On Renewable Energy From Organics Recycling Conference in 2009 in Minneapolis. This special session was aimed at discussing the potential formation of an organization whose goal would be to help pave the way for the biogas industry in the U.S. (see image of that evening’s agenda).
Five years later, that organization, the American Biogas Council, is making important inroads.
Paul Greene, Vice President of O’Brien & Gere, was also presented with a Visionary Award for his work in the founding of the American Biogas Council and his continued efforts with the Council.
Nora Goldstein and BioCycle are proud to have played a role in the formation of the American Biogas Council as we continue in our 54-year-old mission to further the composting and biogas industries via our website, magazine and conferences.
