Franciosi Named USCC Executive Director

Bethesda, MD (Jan. 11, 2016) – The US Composting Council (USCC) Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Frank Franciosi, a composting industry leader and business executive, to the leadership position of Executive Director of the USCC and its sister foundation, the Composting Council Research and Education Foundation.

“Frank has the unique experience of both sales and operations management in the compost manufacturing industry,” said Lorrie Loder, Council President. “With the current nationwide focus on diverting organic materials from disposal, the US Composting Council is leading the way by promoting best management practices, establishing standards, educating professionals and the public about the benefits of compost manufacturing and compost utilization. Frank’s long-standing involvement with the US Composting Council as a Board member and past President along with his extensive industry knowledge provides the organization and its membership with a strong leader who has the ability to meet the needs of the organization.”

Franciosi’s resume includes more than 20 years of experience in marketing, operations management, residuals management, training, executive planning and administration. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Plant & Soil Sciences from the West Virginia University Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Design.

Franciosi was also involved with the USCC Professional Credentials Committee and has provided input on training curriculum for the Compost Operator Training Course (COTC). Frank continues to support the COTC by co-organizing and teaching this course annually in North Carolina, where it is in its sixth consecutive year.

Franciosi has been a Seal of Testing Assurance (STA) participant for the past 16 years and is a strong advocate of the STA Program, providing input and guidance on improving, strengthening, and expanding this vital USCC program. Frank was responsible for the development of the STA Consumer Use Program by chairing a task force that reviewed program content to reach consensus on technical data and program design.

During his time as USCC president, Frank realized the importance of engaging new leaders, and initiated the Young Compost Professionals Program, now in its fourth year.
“I want to thank Al Rattie for his service this past year serving as the Interim Executive Director,” Franciosi said of the USCC’s interim executive director. Al will continue on with the Council as Director of Market Development.
