Breaking News: Composting Collaborative Launch, Nov. 17, 2016

The Composting Collaborative was officially launched on November 17 in Washington, D.C. The Collaborative was created by GreenBlue, in partnership with BioCycle and the US Composting Council, to drive sustainable materials management of organics and all compostables. “Our mission is to accelerate composting access and infrastructure to improve soil health and divert compostables from landfill,” explains Anne Bedarf of GreenBlue, the Collaborative facilitator.  “We cultivate resilient composting infrastructure, policy, and community nationwide.”

The goals of the Composting Collaborative are to:

Accelerate composting infrastructure and landfill diversion in the U.S.

Coordinate national composting initiatives across the composting value chain.

Support the competitiveness and long-term viability of compost manufacturing.

Determine gaps and prioritize initiatives in the composting space.

Educate diverse audiences on the environmental benefits and resilient infrastructure compost manufacturing provides.
