New Map Shows More Than 200 RNG Projects Across North America

The RNG Coalition has released the 2026 North American Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) Map, offering a comprehensive snapshot of RNG development across the United States and Canada. Produced by Biomass magazine, the data-rich map documents more than 200 RNG facilities that are either operating or under construction.

The color-coded map highlights the rapid geographic expansion of RNG projects, with facilities spread across agricultural regions, urban corridors, and landfill-dense areas. Each project listing includes operational status, city, state or province, feedstock type, and RNG end use, providing a detailed look at how and where RNG is being produced.

In addition to the static map, the Coalition has released an interactive version that allows users to filter projects by location, feedstock type such as agricultural waste or manure, and end use. This tool enables policymakers, developers, utilities, and organics recyclers to better understand regional trends and project clustering.

Taken together, the map illustrates continued momentum in the RNG sector, with project development extending beyond early adopter markets. As more jurisdictions pursue methane reduction and renewable fuel goals, the growing number of RNG facilities signals an expanding role for organics management, anaerobic digestion, and gas upgrading infrastructure across North America.
