“Come gather ‘round, people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You’ll be drenched to the bone
If your time to you is worth savin’
And you better start swimmin’
Or you’ll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin’”
—Bob Dylan, “The Times They Are A Changin’”
As subscribers and readers, you “get” BioCycle. You get BioCycle — the authority on everything related to organics recycling — be it composting, anaerobic digestion, biogas, food recovery, soil health, sustainable communities. You, the BioCycle Community, understand and help advance these cornerstone solutions to critical global resource management challenges.
And you‚ “get” BioCycle, i.e., you receive a printed copy of the magazine. Some of you have been getting BioCycle in print for decades, helping to build the foundation of the BioCycle Community. You also get BioCycle electronically via @BioCycle e-news bulletin, and via BioCycle.net.
Today, we ask you to “come gather ‘round” to learn about how the times are changing at BioCycle headquarters. Starting January 1, 2020, BioCycle, The Organics Recycling Authority, will be published online. After the November-December 2019 issue is printed, BioCycle will continue our 60-year leadership as the Organics Recycling Authority online. Our primary focus will continue to be on the recovery and recycling of organics to build resilience into soil, water, energy and food systems. After 60 years of print publishing, the urgency to accelerate implementation of the practices we preach has never been greater. BioCycle will be working in real-time to track, communicate and provide access to the tools, knowledge, and actions that are crucial for successful implementation.
Here are a few logistics as we undertake our transition:
• As of January 8, 2020, the BioCycle CONNECT® e-issue will replace the print edition of BioCycle magazine, as well as @BioCycle. BioCycle CONNECT continues our 60-year leadership as The Organics Recycling Authority, online. The BioCycle CONNECT e-issue will be sent 48 times — almost weekly — during 2020. Each edition incorporates the in-depth content that has been available for 60 years in print. There is no subscription fee for BioCycle CONNECT. And all content on BioCycle.net will be available at no charge.
• Sign up now for BioCycle CONNECT.
• Advertisers will have new opportunities including ads on BioCycle.net and in BioCycle CONNECT.
• We look forward to bringing you BioCycle CONNECT in 2020, and will inform you when the new BioCycle.net is ready for the “grand opening.” Also, you’ll be notified about BioCycle’s new series of webinars
Ending the print version of BioCycle is one of the most daunting decisions that we have faced since joining our parents, Jerome Goldstein and Ina Pincus, when they launched The JG Press, Inc. in 1978. On the cusp of a new decade, the waters are anything but calm. Get ready for an exciting swim with BioCycle.
