Circular Services, a privately-held recycling company and circular economy services provider, recently acquired Atlas Organics from Generate Capital. The acquisition includes eight composting sites operated by Generate Upcycle, a subsidiary of Generate Capital. The sites primarily process food waste and yard trimmings. In 2022, Atlas Organics sold its assets, including existing municipal contracts, to Generate. That transaction provided over $200 million in financing for expansion of Atlas’ composting facilities. Generate Upcycle has been focusing on expansion of its food waste digestion infrastructure, and production of renewable natural gas.
The acquisition of Atlas Organics adds to Circular Services’ growing offering of organics solutions for businesses and municipalities. In 2024, the company acquired two Connecticut-based companies — a food waste digester owned by Quantum Biopower (now Quantum Organics), and Blue Earth Compost, a food scraps hauling company. With the addition of Atlas, Circular Services now operates over 35 recycling and organics processing facilities across many of the largest markets in the United States.
